Legal Compliance
Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has renewed ARAI’s Consent to Operate under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. Authorization has also been granted under the Hazardous and Other Waste (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016, valid until December 2026.
Environmental monitoring of key parameters such as Stack emissions, Ambient air, Noise, drinking water and Wastewater etc. being conducted regularly. All results observed are within specified limits, ensuring compliance with environmental standards.
Waste Management Initiatives
- ARAI has categorized all types of waste generated and ensures environmental sound management of waste.
- A crusher machine has been installed for garden waste disposal.
- Collaboration with RVSF for the disposal of tested vehicles.
- Hazardous wastes like used oil, oil-soaked cotton, and empty oil barrels being disposed of through authorized recyclers.
- Systems are in place for the management of hazardous waste, e-waste, battery waste, and plastic waste.
- ARAI has implemented the “5S” methodology to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- ARAI actively participates in government of India initiatives like Shwachhat Hi Sewa, Special Campaign & Swachhata Pakhwda etc.
Environmental, Health & Safety (EOHS) Initiatives
- National Safety Week and World Environment Day were celebrated to promote safety and environmental awareness.
- Swachhata Pakhwada (16th – 31st August 2025) and Swachhata Hi Seva (Swachh Bharat Abhiyan) were observed, reinforcing our commitment to cleanliness.
- Participation in the Special Campaign 5.0 (Swachhata Campaign)

Environmental Protection Measures
- Use of energy-efficient LED lighting and BEE-certified appliances.
- Adoption of eco-friendly waste disposal practices for hazardous, e-waste, non-hazardous, and plastic waste.
- Digitalization of various business process.
- Rainwater harvesting and water conservation measures are in place.
- Solar energy generation has been implemented to reduce reliance on non-renewable energy sources.
- Carbon footprint assessment
- Crash-tested vehicles are disposed of through authorized agencies.
- Installation of CPCB IV+ compliant DG sets.
- Massive tree plantation activities were conducted across all ARAI locations under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative.
